Commercial Heat Recovery Ventilation

Heat Recovery Ventilation

A heat recovery ventilation system (also called HRV or MVHR) works by extracting moist and stale air from rooms in your office areas, it recovers the heated or cooled air from the room extract. It also supplies clean, filtered fresh air that is heated from the recovered stale extracted heat to the fresh air. This aids greatly when combined with a cooled or heated environment whether that be via:

  • A standard heating system, wet or gas fired.
  • A standard air source conditioning system or chilled water system.
  • A Heat pump/heat recovery VRV/VRF air conditioning system.

The stale and fresh air do not flow or mix within the same space so there is no cross contamination via the different air flows. The heat recovery unit is connected to each room via supply and extract air valves from a network of ducting throughout the building.

Once installed a heat recovery system will make use of what already heated or cooled air is available therefore reducing our collective impact on the environment, including the body heat we lose to the environment daily. Heat recovery systems not only operate in a positive way but also save money on your energy bills by reducing the load on your heating or air conditioning.
